I absolutely love this coming of age story about a brother and sister who love each other than they should I read this in Dutch translation Amanda and Ludvig are pretty much inseparable when they grow up they re only a year apart and form a kind of double act against their much older smart ass sister But as they hit puberty Amanda begins to realise the deep love she feels for her brother is no longer platonic and she suspects he might feel the same way This realisation torments her and she tries to suppress it as best she can but close as they are it s only a matter of time before they act on it Amanda is seventeen when the story starts and in the last year of high school Ludvig is eighteen and has a job They are both still living at home with their divorcee mom I love the writing The author s style is simple and direct and she treats the sensitive topic well The story is written from Amanda s POV in first person alternated with diary entrees The writer nails the voice of a tormented teen who fills page after page of her diary with love and feverish longing soul searching and self condemnation Amanda is a likeable girl it s easy to relate to her She is passionate honest and witty sometimes harshly soThe writer doesn t shy away from sexuality which is completely consensual and describes it naturally as it is experienced by a 17 year old girl in love with a beautiful intense charismatic boyI could not judge nor condemn their love They already did so much of it themselves Yet their love feels pure and true no matter how inappropriate and tragic it is In the end there is no escaping the cruel reality of life and this makes it an emotional read What touched me the most was their struggle with the fact that they were born as brother and sister feeling that fate had made a mistake that they should never have been born as siblings The secondary characters play important and realistic roles in the story The whole story felt real and authentic The only niggle I had was with the ending The brief closing remarks should ve been treated as an epilogue Incest is a controversial and difficult topic not a topic I would normally choose to read but Dutch critics lauded it and made me curious enough to pick this up I m so glad I did It s become an instant favouriteRecommended Souls in the Great Machine read this in Dutch translation Amanda and Ludvig are pretty much inseparable when they grow up they Judge Dredd Chronicles #19 re only a year apart and form a kind of double act against their much older smart ass sister But as they hit puberty Amanda begins to THE WALLPAPER CHASE realise the deep love she feels for her brother is no longer platonic and she suspects he might feel the same way This SpongeBob Mix Match realisation torments her and she tries to suppress it as best she can but close as they are it s only a matter of time before they act on it Amanda is seventeen when the story starts and in the last year of high school Ludvig is eighteen and has a job They are both still living at home with their divorcee mom I love the writing The author s style is simple and direct and she treats the sensitive topic well The story is written from Amanda s POV in first person alternated with diary entrees The writer nails the voice of a tormented teen who fills page after page of her diary with love and feverish longing soul searching and self condemnation Amanda is a likeable girl it s easy to Rules of the Knife Fight relate to her She is passionate honest and witty sometimes harshly soThe writer doesn t shy away from sexuality which is completely consensual and describes it naturally as it is experienced by a 17 year old girl in love with a beautiful intense charismatic boyI could not judge nor condemn their love They already did so much of it themselves Yet their love feels pure and true no matter how inappropriate and tragic it is In the end there is no escaping the cruel Know What I Saw? reality of life and this makes it an emotional The Goodbye Girl Vocal Selections read What touched me the most was their struggle with the fact that they were born as brother and sister feeling that fate had made a mistake that they should never have been born as siblings The secondary characters play important and Gunnin' For Love realistic MIA Hunter roles in the story The whole story felt Overlords of Atlantis and the Great Pyramid real and authentic The only niggle I had was with the ending The brief closing Magic and Mayhem remarks should ve been treated as an epilogue Incest is a controversial and difficult topic not a topic I would normally choose to Good bye read but Dutch critics lauded it and made me curious enough to pick this up I m so glad I did It s become an instant favouriteRecommended

I read this book in Danish ages ago and it remains one of the most memorable books I have ever read It s different angsty romantic and hardcore I m all about the drama and impossibleforbidden love stories so this was just up my alley I like how the story isn t slow paced and it begins right away which is something I really appreciate in a book I remember thinking oh I want it to be longer before having opened it but it helps immensely that it doesn t need two or three chapters in order to actually kick off the story The language is flowing nicely and it draws the reader in making me really FEEL Amanda s feelings blossom feel her guilt desire and confusion so vividly as if it were my own When she describes how good Ludvig looks when he s doing something as relaxing as reading a book it s like the words are caressing his skin and it makes the image come alive As a reader I get drawn in and experience the need and desperation as opposed to just reading about them The language it itself brings the rating up a star or two It s a book I would very much love to own but I have previously been unable to find it anywhere as it has been sold out from the publishers everywhere I haven t given up seeing as the book really is that good YA fiction with a twist
